The sensor integrates an infrared LED emitter and a phototransistor receiver positioned opposite each other across a narrow slot. When an object or interrupter passes through the slot, the infrared beam is blocked, causing a change in the output signal. This simple but reliable sensing method allows the device to detect movement, count rotations or determine position with high accuracy.
